Copilot form fill assistance
Designing an AI-assisted form experience that reduces effort without removing control.
As design lead on this feature, I shaped how AI supports users during one of the most sensitive interactions in enterprise software: filling out forms. The work focused on speed, accuracy, and trust without disrupting existing workflows.

I was the Design Lead for Form Filling Assistance feature in Power Apps, an AI-powered feature that helps users complete complex forms faster, with fewer errors, and greater confidence. The goal was not automation. It was thoughtful assistance, not intervention.
Designed AI assistance for complex Power Apps forms that helps people move faster while retaining control. Suggestions remain optional, explainable, and easy to ignore—supporting accuracy without interrupting the task.

AI suggestions
Opportunity
Forms are one of the most sensitive surfaces in enterprise software.
They are:
mandatory
repetitive
error-prone
and often filled under pressure
Introducing AI into this moment is risky.
If it interrupts, users disengage.
If it acts without permission, trust erodes.
The challenge was to design assistance that feels considerate, not clever.

Suggestion sources
Design Intent
I anchored the work around four principles:
Assist, never override
Remain optional at all times
Explain behaviour clearly
Preserve user control
AI needed to feel like a quiet collaborator, present only when helpful.

With and without AI data entry
What I Owned
Context-Aware Suggestions
AI proposes values only when confidence is high, using form structure, existing data, and user context.
Progressive Disclosure
Assistance appears only when relevant.
Nothing competes with the primary task.
Explainability by Default
Users can always understand:
why a suggestion appears
where the value comes from
and what will happen if it’s accepted
Human Confirmation Loop
No automatic changes.
Every action requires explicit user intent.
Impact
30–40% reduction in time to complete complex forms
25%+ decrease in field-level errors
~60% lower cognitive load reported in usability testing
Higher completion rates on long, multi-step forms
Strong user adoption without training
The most telling feedback:
It helps without getting in the way.
Reflection
As design lead on the feature, I:
Defined the UX strategy for AI-assisted form entry
Partnered closely with PM and engineering on confidence thresholds and guardrails
Set quality standards for when AI should intervene — and when it should not
Led design reviews to ensure consistency across Power Apps
This work required balancing AI capability, enterprise reliability, and user trust.
Good AI doesn’t announce itself.
It supports the user quietly, precisely, and at the right moment.
Form Filling Assistance reinforced a core belief in my work:
The best design decisions are the ones users barely notice, until they’re gone.
